Gary has had a long term interest in philosophy, especially the Critical Realism of the late Roy Bhaskar. He used Critical Realism in his doctoral dissertation on Left Wing Documentary Film in Australia drawing especially on the four level ontological truth model outlined in Bhaskar’s magnum opus Dialectic the Pulse of Freedom to vindicate a concept of documentary truth. Currently he is interested in interdisciplinary work that draws upon Critical Realism, Dual Process Cognitive Theory and Behavioural Economics. Hopefully this will emerge in book form in 2016.
